The UNICAMP Innovation Policies Analysis Group (GAPI) has been working on the study of Science, Technology and Society relations, belonging to LABTS, based on the use of approaches such as the history and sociology of science and technology, the economics of technology, public authorities and political analysis. The multidisciplinary and multi-institutional GAPI team has been working with domestic and foreign institutions and in partnership with other groups similar to UNICAMP. The activities initially conducted by GAPI focused on the development and implementation of methodologies for the Strategic Management of Innovation (the prospection and screening of opportunities for innovation, the assessment of the potential of institutions, etc) adapted to the Latin-American scenario. Within this scope, the GAPI has been offering Training Programmes for professionals involved in the formulation, execution and assessment of policies in connection with research and higher education. In accordance with the experience acquired in training public officials and advising government teams, and in the management and development of methodological instruments related to Public Authorities, Political Science, Solidarity Economy, Analysis of Systems, Creation of Scenarios, Situational Strategic Planning, etc, GAPI has been working in the field of Government Sciences and Techniques. This accrued experience and in-depth study of analytical-conceptual and methodological issues has always been related to the group´s founding concern with Science, Technology and Society relations. And it has also been related to the commitment to the training of researchers and undergraduate and post-graduate students capable of critically understanding the nature of these relations and changing them in a sense consistent with improving the public policies involved with them.
